Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Draft pending review. This document is a first draft prepared for Tembo; it must be reviewed and validated by a Tunisian lawyer before publication.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and trackers are, which ones Tembo uses on its B2B ticketing and networking platform, for what purpose, on what legal basis, and how you can manage them or withdraw your consent. Tembo is established in Tunis, Tunisia, and operates across Africa. Any personal data collected through cookies is processed in accordance with Tunisian law, in particular Organic Law No. 2004-63 of 27 July 2004 on the protection of personal data, under the supervision of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (INPDP). For full details on how we process your personal data, please refer to our Privacy Policy, which this policy supplements.

1. What is a cookie or tracker?

A cookie is a small text file placed and stored on your device (computer, tablet, phone) by your browser when you visit a site or use a web application. It allows the site to recognize your device, remember certain information about your browsing, and provide you with a functional and secure service.

The term "tracker" is used broadly to refer, in addition to classic cookies, to similar technologies that read or write information on your device: browser storage (local storage, session storage), pixels, tags, session identifiers or authentication tokens. This policy applies to all of these technologies.

A cookie cannot run a program, damage your device, or transmit a virus. Only the issuer of a cookie can read or modify the information it contains.

  • Cookie: a small text file placed on your device by the browser.
  • Tracker: a broad term covering cookies, browser storage, pixels and similar identifiers.
  • Issuer: a "first-party" cookie is set by Tembo; a "third-party" cookie is set by a service provider.
  • Lifespan: a "session" cookie expires when the browser is closed; a "persistent" cookie remains until its expiry date or until it is deleted.

2. The cookies we use

We group the cookies and trackers we use into three categories, according to their purpose. Only the first category is strictly necessary for the platform to operate and is set without your consent; the other categories are set only after your consent has been obtained.

(a) Strictly necessary cookies — These cookies are essential for the platform to function and to deliver the services you request. Without them, you would not be able to log in, purchase a ticket, or browse securely. They are exempt from consent.

(b) Audience-measurement and statistics cookies — These cookies allow us to understand how the platform is used (pages viewed, journeys, performance) in order to improve the service. They are subject to your prior consent.

(c) Marketing and retargeting cookies (where applicable) — These cookies are used to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and, where applicable, to present you with relevant content or offers on other sites. They are subject to your prior consent. To date, Tembo does not use advertising or retargeting cookies; this category is mentioned for transparency and would only be activated with your explicit consent.

  • (a) Strictly necessary — session, authentication (login token), language/locale preference, security, fraud prevention and load balancing. Exempt from consent.
  • (b) Audience measurement / statistics — analysis of traffic and performance, aggregated usage measurement. Subject to consent.
  • (c) Marketing / retargeting (where applicable) — campaign measurement and advertising personalization. Subject to consent; not used by Tembo to date.
  • Cookies that store your consent choice are themselves strictly necessary cookies.

3. Legal basis for setting cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a functional and secure service, and the performance of the contract when you use our services (login, ticket purchase). They do not require your consent.

Non-essential cookies — audience measurement and, where applicable, marketing/retargeting — are set only with your prior, free, informed and specific consent, obtained before any cookie is placed. Until you have consented, these cookies are not activated. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Where these cookies lead to the processing of personal data, that processing is governed by Organic Law No. 2004-63 of 27 July 2004, under the supervision of the INPDP. On a supplementary and voluntary basis, Tembo aligns its tracker-consent practices with recognized international standards, in line with its "GDPR-compliant" commitment, without the GDPR being the primary legal basis, which remains Tunisian law.

  • Strictly necessary cookies: no consent required (legitimate interest / performance of the contract).
  • Non-essential cookies: prior, free, informed and specific consent, obtained before placement.
  • Consent can be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given.
  • Associated personal data: Organic Law No. 2004-63 and INPDP supervision.

4. Third-party cookies

Some cookies may be set by third-party providers that Tembo uses to operate or measure its service. These third parties act on their own behalf under their own policies, over which Tembo does not have full control; we encourage you to review their respective policies.

The main contexts in which third-party cookies may be involved are as follows:

  • Payment processors: for secure payment processing and fraud prevention during a ticket purchase — Flouci, ClicToPay, Stripe and bank transfer. Tembo never stores your card data.
  • Audience-measurement tools: to produce usage statistics (only after your consent).
  • Social networks (where applicable): if embedded social network buttons or content were added, the corresponding cookies would be activated only with your consent.
  • Host and technical services: for the availability and security of the platform.

5. Managing and withdrawing your consent

You may express, change or withdraw your choices regarding non-essential cookies at any time. Where a consent manager (banner or preference center) is offered on the platform, you can use it to accept, refuse or configure cookies category by category, and revisit your choice later.

Independently of this manager, you can configure your browser to accept or refuse cookies, to be warned before they are placed, or to delete cookies already stored. The procedure varies by browser and is described in its help or settings menu (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.).

Refusing or deleting strictly necessary cookies via the browser may prevent the platform from working properly (see the "Consequences of refusal" section).

  • Consent manager (where applicable): accept, refuse or configure by category, and revisit your choice.
  • Browser settings: accept, refuse, be alerted, or delete stored cookies.
  • Withdrawing consent is as simple as giving it and takes effect going forward.
  • For any question: contact@tembo-event.com.

6. Cookie retention periods

The lifespan of a cookie depends on its purpose. Session cookies expire when you close your browser, whereas persistent cookies remain until their expiry date or until they are deleted. The consent obtained for non-essential cookies is kept for a limited period, after which you are asked for your choice again.

Indicative periods by category are as follows:

  • Session and authentication cookies: for the duration of the session; expiring on logout or browser closure.
  • Language/locale preference and consent choice: generally up to 6 to 12 months.
  • Audience-measurement cookies: a limited period that we endeavor to keep to the strict minimum, indicatively on the order of 13 months at most.
  • Marketing/retargeting cookies (where applicable): a limited period, and never without consent.
  • At the end of these periods, the cookie expires or consent is requested again.

7. Consequences of refusal

You are free to refuse non-essential cookies: this refusal has no impact on your access to the platform's main features. You will still be able to log in, browse events, purchase a ticket and use networking.

Strictly necessary cookies, however, cannot be disabled without degrading the service: blocking them via your browser may prevent you from logging into your account, completing a purchase, or may compromise the security of your session.

Refusing audience-measurement cookies deprives us of certain improvement statistics but does not reduce the services offered to you in any way.

  • Refusing non-essential cookies: no impact on access to the main features.
  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies: login, purchase or session security potentially prevented.
  • Refusing audience measurement: no reduction in the services provided.

8. Changes to the policy and version

We may amend this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our services, the technologies used, or regulations. Any substantial change will be brought to your attention by appropriate means (notice on the platform or a renewed request for your consent where applicable).

The version in force is the one published on this page. For the processing of your personal data, refer to our Privacy Policy. Version: June 2026.
